FDA inspection and oversight of quality control (QC) laboratories are essential elements of the agency’s evaluation of the compliance status of regulated companies representing multiple industries – pharmaceuticals, biologics, medical devices, as well as foods and cosmetics – as well as the contract QC laboratories which service these industries. Lack of compliance can result in severe regulatory actions, criminal liability, fines, and the inability to obtain product approvals.
This course will examine the fundamental requirements for all QC laboratories subject to FDA inspection, recent trends from FDA inspection reports, and enforcement actions. In addition, this course will include a list of relevant regulations and guidelines and demonstrate how quality control and quality assurance personnel can monitor industry practices to stay “current” with FDA requirements (cGMPs and GLPs). Urological coding has become more complicated and often difficult to chose the correct CPT codes because of the coding manual (CPT) changes every year. Changes in the diagnostic coding using new ICD-10 codes also complicate the process. These coding changes have resulted in new ICD-10 codes, new CPT codes, many revised ICD-10, and CPT codes, and several deleted ICD-10 and CPT codes for this year, and more changes to come next year. Many changes occur every quarter of the year. This session will review many important coding changes ("Pearls") and common errors ("Pitfalls") found in urological coding that often lead to claim denials and loss of significant revenue. Didactic explanations and teaching as well as specific clinical scenarios will be presented throughout the conference to bring to light these urological Pearls and Pitfalls which will allow coders to recognize the correct coding for the numerous different clinical situations that might arise for coding.

New Multi-State Workplace Regulations for 2021! Employers Must Be Compliant or Risk Fines, Penalties, and Criminal Sanctions
Many employers do not realize that the changes in their state regulations have an impact on state-specific and multi-state locations and especially with remote employees. Now more than ever Employers, Leaders, HR professionals, and Managers need to be prepared for the changes that impact employees and communicate changes to employees. Training is the best method to keep track of workplace changes and how to create an effective risk management strategy. At this time over 35 states have workplace changes. It is critical to be informed since ignorance is no excuse for violations.
Labor research has proven that Employers have a delay in implementing new regulations and adding it to Employee Handbooks or stand-alone policies. Moreover, new regulations go hand in hand with the employee handbook and standalone policy updates. As a compliance officer, I am always providing support to Employers and professionals and see what the gaps are when protecting employees. Federal, State, and local regulations have an impact on maintaining workplace compliance and Employers need to be aware that when Federal, State, and Local regulations clash the regulations with the most benefit for the employees supersedes. That is why it is important to be aware and follow all workplace regulations.
More changes in regulations were passed in July 2020 and more expected in 2021in different states and Employers must ensure they are ready to accommodate the regulations that have changed in those states.
This training will provide a risk management strategic plan to reduce compliance violations by enhancing the knowledge and resources to the attendees on how to maintain updates to the multi-state regulations.
