This VIRTUAL LIVE Bootcamp series covers what revenue cycle and coding/billing staff in CAHs need for their documentation, professional and facility coding, and medical billing processes. We will describe the vital areas that affect all members of the CAH workforce related to CPT, HCPCS-II, & ICD-10-CM coding and billing; focusing on their impact on revenue, facility mission, population, and public health reporting.

  • Coders/billers who have come from "traditional provider offices or hospitals" or are new to the unique nature of billing for the services Critical Access Hospitals and/or Small Rural Hospitals will benefit by better understanding the CAH designation CAH-specific rules for coding/billing.
  • Managers who hire staff, manage people and policies and supervise the coding/billing staff will benefit by gaining a high-level overview of  CAH designation criteria and the systems/processes required to main CAH status, emphasizing coding/billing.

Laura A. Dixon

Laura Dixon served as the Director, Facility Patient Safety and Risk Management and Operations for COPIC from 2014 to 2020 where she provided safety and risk management consultation and training to facilities, practitioners, and staff in multiple states. Ms. Dixon has more than twenty years of clinical experience in acute care facilities, including critical care, coronary care, peri-operative services, and pain management. She served as the Director, Western Region, Patient Safety and Risk Management for The Doctors Company, Napa, California. Laura holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Regis University, RECEP of Denver, a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Drake University College of Law, Des Moines, Iowa, and a Registered Nurse Diploma from Saint Luke’s School Professional Nursing, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She is licensed to practice law in Colorado and California.
