If you are working for a podiatrist you are dealing with some complex coding related to CPT and coding guidelines from Medicare, as well as other insurance carriers on what they considered is medically necessary and what is experimental and investigational.  In this presentation, we are going to review this complex coding to include CPT and ICD-10 coding, with the use of modifiers also.

You will learn how to handle the difficult coding of podiatry and procedures related to the foot and ankle.  You will get an understanding of appending modifiers appropriately and creating clean claims, reducing denials that later have to be adjudicated. When claims are right the first time, payment is not denied, and it will save you additional time that would otherwise be needed to obtain reimbursement.  You will be able to know what is important to code podiatry and foot and ankle procedures with the correct modifiers. You will also know when Q modifier is required, as well as tips on reading LCDs by your Medicare MAC carrier to understand payable diagnoses.  We will also review when the patient is responsible for payment, and the insurance requirements to be able to receive payment from the patient.
